Video Networks

A Regional Video Network (RVN) or Revid Net, is a localized collection of video channels.
It is much like a cable provider that connects various channels in a city, county, state or other region.
RVN channels are streaming video channels, usually with live content. Some examples are ElmoreTV.blogspot.com, NetworkAlabama.com and jerseysportsnow.com

A Revid Net has a single web page that acts as a TV guide.  It lists upcoming programming and provides a list of channels in the area it covers. In addition, It has individual pages for each channel.

A Revid channel has two components; A web page, and an embedded live video channel, usually Livestream, Justin, or a Ustream channel.
When you click on a channel link in the guide, it directs you to the network's channels web site.
Each Channel's web site contains an embedded channel. The actual embedded video may show up as channel
3 on a city Rivid, and at the same time show up on channel 15 of a county, regional or state Revid as well as the channel's own web site.

This is an important concept to understand. A channel owned and operated by a local entitiy can be watched on several websites. A channel could be specialized and operated by a local school, it could be more general like a group of medical profesionals and a hospital. Other examples are; a radio station, one of the new low power HDTV channels, a city, county or state government.

For example you could create the following web sites each with the same embedded channel:
AnytownHS.com  on the sports page
AnyCountyVideoNet.com on the channel 3 page,
TriCountyVideoNet.com on channel 6
SouthernRegion.com on channel 22
AnyState.com on channel 122
USALocalNewsNet.com on channel state/1234

Why is this important?
Because each web page is tailored to a local.
Each local has content and banner ads for advertisers in that local. The smaller the local, the more cost effective the banner ads are. A drycleaner or car wash  in Anytown only needs people in Anytown to see his ad. A restaurant might put an ad on the AnytownHS page and the AnyCountyVideoNet page.
A national seller of band uniforms might put ads on the USA page, or all pages that carry highschool sports but not on the pages that only carry news, weather and talk.

It is also worthy to note that each
For generic channels, They will be hosted on Livestream with channel names like NetAL01, NetAL02, NetAL03 ... etc.
Established channels will use Livestream's channel names like TallasseeTimes or WestsideChurch
For channels that use guest co-hosting we use embedded Ustream channels. This us invite viewers with webcams to join in the video as a PIP.

Notice that while channels have numbers (NetAL11, for example) any Livestream or Ustream embedded video can be assigned to any channel. This is fairly easy except for having to change things like the graphical header, page background and any advertising that has paid to be associated with a particular video stream.

Leaning Forward

Much of this can be attributed to the quality of the viewership, which compared to cable can be arrayed against broadband user demographics to show the favorable likelihood of reaching attractive, buying-empowered users.
It also comes down to the "lean forward" mode of online video. Compared to sitting on a couch watching television, online viewers are more likely to be at their desks in search mode and a few mouse clicks away from being able to respond in a meaningful way. TV ads, by comparison, rely on less tangible impressions and response that involves a great deal more latency.
